Luisa F. Madrid is a rising cinematographer and first-generation Peruvian/Colombian-American filmmaker, celebrated for her ability to craft visually striking and emotionally resonant narratives. With a blend of technical mastery and artistic intuition, Luisa specializes in capturing emotional intimacy and grounding stories in relatable, humanistic moments.
Her notable projects include the award-winning short film, All the Gaps, which premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) and aired on ASPIRETV, and Care Center: Promotores, a Planned Parenthood documentary that premiered at the Women’s International Film Festival (WIFF) in New York City. Both works showcase her passion for amplifying underrepresented voices and exploring themes of resilience, diversity, and connection. As a proud member of Women in Media and NYWIFT, Luisa is a strong advocate for inclusivity and representation in the film and entertainment industry.
Her achievements include being selected for the Warner Brothers Discovery Access x Food Network: Behind the Lens Program as well as The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Academy Foundation Internship Program, a two-time recipient of the Made in New York grant, and a recipient of the NYWIFT Award. She holds an MFA in Cinematography from CUNY’s Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, an a MSW in Social Work from Florida International University, and is an alumna of the prestigious photojournalistic community, Eddie Adams Workshop.
